MANHATTAN, Kan.

— A man arrested in a possible underwear robbery has been charged with two counts of criminal damage and one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kan.

The complaint says the victim was riding a bicycle on a busy stretch of the city’s I-75 last week when a man pulled up and asked him for a bag of underwear.

When the man declined, the complaint says, he punched the man in the face.

The victim’s friend followed the suspect into a nearby convenience store and saw him grab a bag from the counter, then left the store without paying.

A store employee called 911.

The suspect was arrested by a deputy with the Kan.

Highway Patrol and later booked into the Jefferson County Jail, the department said.

The other person arrested was also a passenger in a vehicle involved in the incident.

A federal grand jury has been looking into the incident and was expected to issue a report later this month.
